AN ETHICAL COMPANY

New Mill Spa has been on an ever growing sustainable path for years as we move into the future and modernize our factory. We have developed production processes that use less water, eliminated harmful chemicals used in traditional dying processes and made great efforts to reduce our overall impact on the environment. We have moved into further reductions by installing solar panels to supply electricity as well as new water purification systems that meet all EEC standards. Better practices is not simply a way of doing business but fundamental to our core, we believe in a healthy and safe production environment for all of our employees and all products they help to make.

New Mill Spa now has the following certifications:

ISO 9001 certifies the traceability of our production process from farm to fashion as it extends through the entire production cycle. The ISO 9001 classification guarantees the highest quality and level of care throughout the process following from the purchase of raw materials, to spinning, dying, winding, twisting and packaging of yarns to ensure that each cone that leaves our factory has the same level of excellence.

ISO 14001 certification oversees our environmental efforts as we move to new forms of lower CO2 production. This process begins in the selection of raw materials as we aim to only purchase from sources with the same commitment to the environment. We aim to have tighter control over the supply chain and eliminate vendors who do not meet our minimum level of care.

At New Mill Spa we are committed to holding ourselves to a high ethical standard that our customers require. With this in mind we make consistent changes to meet ever changing demands in the industry. With this in mind we have made many changes in the past few years to offer new and better certified raw materials in which we make our yarn out of.
We are now part of GRS (Global recycled Standard) which again helps to ensure supply chain management of recycled materials from start to finish of production. We are in fact the only company in Italy that is GRS certified for internal production as we recycle cashmere garments on hand to produce our line of recycled cashmere based yarns. This was a large investment for us but one we deemed necessary in order to have complete control over our supply chain. Our GRS certification not only refers to our recycled cashmere but also to many other recycled fibers incorporated into our line GREEN MILL.. We are now producing yarns made with recycled wool, cotton, nylon and polyester.
Besides GRS based yarns we are now working to incorporate more TENCEL fibers into our production. Tencel is produced from the pulp of a eucalyptus tree, grown in specific conditions to use less water and have a healthier planting cycle to avoid deforestation. This fiber is 100% biodegradable and uses around 20% less water than traditional cotton. Tencel is also produced in a closed loop processing system which reuses the majority of waste normally associated with processing traditional viscose.

As a company we have also expanded our wool offerings with RWS (RESPONSIBLE WOOL STANDARD) . RWS similar to GRS allows us to have better visibility of our entire supply chain. With RWS certification we can trace the source of all of our fibers to the specific farm, allowing greater transparency throughout the process.

The GOTS certifications

We are now also members of GOTS (GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD) and OCS (ORGANIC CONTENT STANDARD) certifications.

Yarns made from GOTS or OCS certified fibers are made only with organic raw materials that do not use pesticides or toxins to grow. GOTS and OCS are available for most naturally grown fibers such as cotton, linen and silk.
We have also been a member of DETOX (Green Peace) for years which is a program that forbids the use and dispersion of harmful chemicals into the environment; such as Apeo, amines, heavy metals and others. All of our dyed yarns are produced to follow the highest level of standards including REACH (Europe) and GB STANDARD (Asia) standards.

OUR COLLECTION OF SUSTAINABLE YARNS

With the ever increasing demand for sustainable materials we have made great efforts to change with the time. With this in mind we now have created an entirely dedicated collection each season to focus on our new sustainable materials called GREEN MILL.. We not only showcase new materials here but also some of our core items which we have redeveloped with organic or recycled raw materials. With this collection our goal is to produce lasting and sustainable fashions to keep them on your backs instead of in a landfill.

Our main focus has been on the recycling of cashmere garments into recycled fibers. We aim to breath new life into post-consumer goods giving them a second chance to be something beautiful once again. This process greatly helps to reduce our carbon footprint as we do not need to use new dye, water and energy associated with traditional dye processes to make yarn. We do this with an immense sorting process in which garments are sorted by color, removed of any tags, buttons and accessories before their first processing into raw fiber. While this process is very labor intensive we believe it is essential to help reduce our impact on the environment.

We want all of you to know that our company is committed to a sustainable way of production. With each new innovation we aim to reduce our footprint as we stride
